Seven Random Facts

Jena, at Married to the Farm, has tagged me in a meme. Here are the rules:

Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog - some random, some weird.
Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog
Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Well, here goes!

1. I don't like eggplant, brussel spouts, or butterbeans. I'll eat just about anything else.
2. I once sang a solo in San Marco Cathedral in Venice. I was there with a college choral group, and the piece we were performing had a solo part to it.
3. I sort M&Ms by color when I eat them.
4. I am a connoiseur of excellent socks. My favorites are SmartWool.
5. I met my husband while working with him on a Greek house charity event that involved rolling an empty beer keg from Bloomington to Champaign. If that isn't the dumbest idea for a charity event, I don't know what is! But romance flowered, and here we are.
6. My first career aspiration as a child was to be a professional whistler, like the one that whistled for the Andy Griffith Show, or the Lassie show. I learned to whistle when I was four, and I'm pretty good at it.
7. My first role in a musical was Bloody Mary in "South Pacific" in high school. I had to say the word "damn" on stage, and I told my parents they shouldn't bring my little sister to the show, because I didn't want her to hear me say a bad word. (They brought her anyway ;))

I know not everyone likes these tag games, but these are the people I would like to know more about, so consider yourselves tagged:

LOL!!! A beer keg rolling event - never in a million years would I have placed you at something like that, much less consider someone finding a husband! Wow - you are full of surprises! Can't wait to hear how you explain that one to the grandkids =) Thanks for the tag!

What can I say? I was a sorority girl at a Big Ten school; there was always a beer keg around somewhere!

I had no idea you were so talented (singing, acting...)!! I'll have to pay more attention I guess. It is too bad that whistling thing didn't work out for you, that sounds like a lot of fun.

Have you ever seen the movie where the guy only eats the brown M&Ms because he figures they have less coloring than the others, since chocolate is already brown? I can't remember for the life of me what movie it is but if I think of it I'll let you know! :)

I sort my M&Ms by color too!!!
Oh, maybe I should have saved that one for my post. Thanks for the tag, I'll play along.

You may be the most interesting person I know! Honestly!
1. what are butterbeans? not yellow string beans with butter, are they?
2. wow!
3. but do you think each color tastes differently? i do, but I think it's only in my mind. I should do an eyes closed taste test.
4. I only wear smart wool, summer and winter!
5. here's your first short story! too good to be true. I love it.
6. you may be, just may be, the only person in the whole world who had this particular aspiration!
7. very, very funny.

Thank you for sharing all those things. I loved 'em.

Jena-There does seem to be a music-related theme here, doesn't there? I don't know of that movie- let me know if you remember it.

Judy- I guess I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who sorts M&Ms by color. My family thinks this is completely odd.

Nan- butterbeans are like very large lima beans, only they're kind beige. Ugh! They're just too mealy for me.
I don't think M&Ms taste differently by color. I'm not sure why I sort them. I kind of sort everything.
Somebody was getting to be a professional whistler! As a preschooler who had just discovered that growing up to be Dale Evans was not an option, this seemed like the next best thing.

I've never heard of a roll the beer keg charity event. Too funny! But was the keg empty or full?

Joyce said...

Shannon the keg was empty (I didn't have anything to do with that!) and the guys attached some kind of harness to it and ran with it. I was back in town collecting money, so that part is still foggy to me. Mike was one of the runners pulling the keg, though. They did it relay style. I don't remember who dreamed that scheme up.

Thanks, Joyce. I'll have to think about this one! I'll let you know if/when I do it. :)

I'm with DramaMama, Joyce--I never would have guessed you would have been in on the beer keg roll, LOL! But you made up for it by singing in the Cathedral at Venice--that must have sent chills down your spine; how cool!

I've done a similar tag some time ago, but I'm game to play again. It may be a week before I get my act together, but I'll let you know when I do.
