Sorry, Pachelbel; I Couldn't Resist!

I could relate, although I do like the Canon in D. But I've played it on the organ, and the footpedals (thankfully in my case---i'm not a virtuoso footpedalis) were those notes he mentioned. And, too, I played an instrument bigger than me---a scrawny girl playing the euphonium (baritone horn) that no one knew what it was! And the "Taco Bell" crack---I think of that because on the old show Designing Women had this dingbat assistant who had a fierce crush on Anthony who called the piece "Taco Bell's Canon in D."

Marie-I like the piece, but my goodness, it's so over-used! My daughter and I have an agreement- no Pachelbel's Canon for her wedding (whenever that might be!).

Hi-Larious! But so true and theoretically you understand why it haunts us everywhere we listen. ;-)

I enjoyed perusing - I'll check back.

K-Now I'm worried I'm going to be like that guy and hear it at every turn!
Kevin-welcome!

That's hilarious! And even funnier because just a couple weeks, I noticed a rock song which had the melody for Pachelbel's Canon in D in it, and I was like ... hey they ripped off Pachelbel! Guess they weren't the only ones.... :)

Hilarious! I never realized so many songs were just copying Pachelbel's Canon.

...it's really just boroque... :)

lol

clearly he didn't have the "church contemporary worship music" stuff in his repertoire... he would have found a number of examples there, too...

:)

I first ran across the Pachelbel Rant a year and a half ago, and it's still the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Minor amusing point: I did a wedding a couple weekends ago for the youngest son of our music minister and the oldest daughter of our youth director; the processional was the Canon in D on piano, violin and cello, and the cellist was the mother of the groom. (She took advantage and played the second violin part.)

Whoa, Rob, you have staff that are now in-laws! Craziness!

Only briefly, though; for a completely unrelated reason, our youth director is leaving the church. (We've had a rough summer.)
