A great video, Joyce! Unfortunately, when schools must make drastic cuts, the music and arts departments usually suffer. Yet the benefits of music have been documented in so many research studies. My mother is still a faithful member of the church choir at 79; Dad, who has a beautiful bass voice, decided he should retire a few years ago, though:)
My position as a K-8 music techer was cut, years ago, when my district had a budget crisis, so I know what you mean!
To me, a great way to judge the health of choral singing is to see how many students are involved at the college level. Right here, there are hundreds of students who enjoy singing in the U of I choruses. Apparently, it's still cool to do!

As one that grew up singing in a choir - I say sing on!
