I doubt you ever watched the show this is spoofing, or did you--"Pimp my Ride"? I saw a couple episodes when my daughter was still at home and controlling the remote. It's one of those shows that kind of draws you in, thinking this is ridiculous--why don't they just buy the person a new car?? I did make some points with a couple of students, though, who thought Mrs. F was cool for watching it:)
Rose, I watched it once with one of my sons. I'm with you; why bother? But I guess it's like all those remodelling shows. There's an element of creativity to it all.
I related well with this one. A spilled gallon of milk made a horrible stench in our old minivan, and we had the duct-taped mirror, as well. When we finally accepted $500 for it as a trade in, it was fourteen years old, driven by many a teenager, and had been, as the expression goes, "rode hard and put away wet".

And i have seen several young families' vans that look like that pr'ty much.
