I see you have the old-fashioned hollyhocks like I do. I was surprised to see mine have blossomed, too; they seem to open up overnight!
I've started my own "crazy garden," too with plant divisions and passalong plants. I'm just going to let it do what it wants!Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01384059342847120951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4352179045764689947.post-64240174755367013042008-06-24T03:17:00.000-07:002008-06-24T03:17:00.000-07:00Nan, here I understand they are biennials, but the...Nan, here I understand they are biennials, but they self-sow so much it's hard for me to tell. I do get them year after year, but they wander about. If I catch them early enough in the season, I transplant them where I would rather they be, but if I miss a couple, I never have the heart to take them out later. I'm not a very good plant disciplinarian, I'm afraid.Joycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10463831506588682774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4352179045764689947.post-84057490183802035872008-06-23T20:35:00.000-07:002008-06-23T20:35:00.000-07:00Do your hollyhocks come up year after year? I bought a plant this year from White Flower Farm with the wonderful name of Appleblossom, and so far, so good. It's a few inches high, and I'm hopeful.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4352179045764689947.post-7985750903764598142008-06-22T14:04:00.000-07:002008-06-22T14:04:00.000-07:00Thanks, Lisa. It's all very tall, and what I like is to sit on the banck I have in it and enjoy the flowers towering above me.

Aisling, I planted those daylillies not knowing what color they would be. My brother-in-law handed me a bag of divisions, and admitted he had accidentally mixed them together and I would just have to gamble when I planted them. I got lucky with this one.Joycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10463831506588682774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4352179045764689947.post-16466655748539471292008-06-22T13:54:00.000-07:002008-06-22T13:54:00.000-07:00Wow!
